About the Instructor: Meet Urban Farm U Faculty Bill McDorman

Thanks to his depth of knowledge, talent in storytelling, and ability to break down any topic into simple, easy-to-digest parts, Bill McDorman is one of our leading instructors at Urban Farm U. McDorman is a passionate and knowledgeable presenter who inspires his audiences to learn to save their own seeds. With decades of experience teaching, Bill shows students how easy and fun seed saving can be.

Bill got his start in the bio-regional seed movement while in college in 1979, when he helped start Garden City Seeds in Missoula, Montana. In 1984, Bill started Seeds Trust/High Altitude Gardens, a mail order seed company he ran successfully until sold to an intern in 2012. He authored the book Basic Seed Saving in 1994. In 2010, he and his wife Belle Starr created Seed School, a nationally recognized weeklong training that has graduated hundreds of students from around the world. They both served as Co-Directors of Native Seeds/SEARCH from 2011 to 2014. In 2014, Bill cofounded the Rocky Mountain Seed Alliance.
